Are you B1 or C2 ? And what does it mean anyway ?

Keep on reading. We will summarise for you the different class levels offered by the French Institute.

The French Institute uses the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
6 levels :

A1-beginners
A2-Elementary
B1-Intermediate
B2-Independent user
C1-Advanced
C2-Proficiency    (aka The Holy Graal!)

It describes what a learner is supposed to be able to do in reading, listening, speaking and writing.
The good thing is that it is widely recognised and applies to all languages in Europe.
