Davide Cali was born in Switzerland. He has published over 90 books of very different genres: illustated novels, caricatures, or even comics. He writes in French as well as in English or Italian. Another part of his work includes illustrating children's books.
During an interview, he describes his vision of literature : "I always say that books are the most democratic thing there is. There are expensive ones and cheapest ones; you can even get books for free in some places. They can be enjoyed by anyone and everyone, it doesn't matter whether you are really smart or not-so quick-witted. Books talk about everything. You just need to find one that suits you."
After a first visit to Estonia in 2013, Cali is coming back to the Estonian Center for Children's Literature. You will have the opportunity to meet him on Thursday, May 26th at 10:00am and 12:00pm. He will also be at Kirjanike Maja later that day (at 4:00pm), with David Almond and Inrek Koff. He will be on May 27th at 11:00am at the French Institute of Estonia to give a workshop on children's literature.
