The mission of the Government Office is to support the Estonian Government and Prime Minister in policy drafting and implementation. Estonia will be holding the presidency of the Council of the EU in the second half of 2017. This means that Estonia will act as a neutral mediator and broker between the EU member states during the six-month period in meetings and negotiations, guiding the member states towards agreements and compromises on key issues. It will also act as a broker between the key EU institutions, such as the Council of the European Union, European Parliament and European Commission. The official website of the Estonian presidency,, will be the main communication channel for the presidency’s international audience.


The editors-translators will be responsible for creating, editing, and proofreading texts in English, and translating them into German or French, for the official website of the Estonian EU presidency and other channels.

Your responsibilities will include:

  •  creating online content and preparing guidance materials for editing web texts: WRITING/EDITING/PROOFREADING ENGLISH TEXTS (1 POST)

Required skills and experience: 

  • Strong motivation to work for the Estonian presidency of the Council of the EU team
  • Perfect command (native speaker level) of both written and verbal English, and either French or German
  • Bachelor’s degree or above preferably in philology
  • At least 1 year professional experience in translating the required languages
  • Good copywriting and editing skills
  • Experience with different translation programmes and web content management systems
  • Strong planning and organising skills Desirable skills and experience:
  • Knowledge of the EU and its institutions
  • Work experience in an English, German or French-speaking environment
  • Knowledge of the Estonian language We offer:
