Climate change: Calls for contributions and side events!

19. Detsember 2014 / 28. Veebruar 2015

Prior to Paris World Climate Conference 2015-COP21, a big and decisive international conference "Our common future under climate change" will take place in July (7-10) 2015 at UNESCO in Paris.

This four-day Conference is the largest forum for the scientific community to come together ahead of the COP21 of the UNFCCC in 2015. The conference will be the major opportunity for scientists, stakeholders and the larger public, to take stock of existing knowledge, explore and identify innovative solutions, discuss them, and prepare for an ambitious post 2015 climate governance regime. The Conference will also welcome Side Events organized by different stakeholders.

Four main objectives have been identified:

    - Provide state-of-the-art scientific knowledge on climate change;

    - Explore a wide range of pathways combining climate mitigation and adaptation, and sustainable development;

    - Assess the potential for evidence-based solutions to climate change challenges;

    - Contribute to as science-society dialogue.

This conference has been labelled by COP21 Ministerial steering committee and more than 1000 participants are expected.

Those who are willing to contribute to the conference will have the opportunity to answer the call for contributions (Oral and Poster) which will open on 9 January, 2015.

In addition to the scientific conference sessions hosted by UNESCO, the organizers encourage other interested and relevant stakeholders such as the private sector, NGOs, young scientists and/or student organisations to organize Side Events that will be held separately from the Conference and in other venues across Paris and Worldwide. The Call for Side Events will be launched in January 2015. In the meantime, preliminary submissions of proposals for Side Events are welcome.
